Reading 2014

In Reading I am learning to:
Use different reading strategies to work out tricky words.

Success criteria:
Use the pictures to think about what the word could be;
Look at the beginning and end letters and think about what word would fit and make sense;
Look for chunks or words I know within a word and think about what work would make sense;
Read on to the end of the sentence, then re-read and think about what word would make sense.

My next step:

To retell the story in detail.

Persuasive Arguments

W.A.L.T write a persuasive argument

We will know we can do this when we...
* say what the issue is.
*  give an opinion about the problem.
*  give reasons for our opinion.
*  use conjunctions to show cause and effect.
*  use adjectives to make the argument more powerful.

Paige says...
I liked that I gave my opinion in my arguement.

My next learning step is to use a range of conjunctions to join my ideas together.

Music

WALT: play the recorder.

We will know we can do this when:
* hold the recorder correctly.
*  use the correct breathing techniques.
*  use the correct fingering to play different notes.
*  can read and perform music with 3-5 notes on the recorder.

Paige says...

In recorder I like learning and listening to the music.

My next learning step is to put my fingers on the right holes.

SUCCESS CRITERIA
We can follow instructions and sketch some fruit and vegetables

WHAT DID I THINK?
I like my picture because it is colourful.  The colour makes it look better and not ordinary.

NEXT STEP:
To practice the skills I have learnt.

C.A.R.E - Learning Co-operatively

W.A.L.T learn to work co-operatively.

We will know we can do this when we can:
*  take turns at the activity
* let other people have a go first
* share our ideas
* focus on completing the task
* work together to complete the task
*  listen to each others ideas.

Student comment:
I worked with my team to make the puzzle.  I am good at sharing my ideas in my group.  My next learning step is to encourage others to join in the group activity.
